Philip John

Chief Executive Officer

Philip is a specialist in commercial and residential property asset management with over 30 years’ experience across the UK and the Middle East.

He began his career at Jones Lang Wootton (now JLL) before relocating to Bahrain, where he worked at Cluttons managing property portfolios for the Bahrain Royal Family and leading regional traders.

In 1995, Philip founded Tideway Property Managers with the vision of delivering a proactive, hands-on service led by senior, experienced professionals. Under his leadership, Tideway has grown significantly and now manages over £800 million in property assets, collects more than £70 million in rent annually, and oversees service charge budgets exceeding £16 million per year.

Philip’s strategic insight, industry knowledge, and commitment to high standards have positioned Tideway as a trusted partner in the property management sector across London and beyond. 

Courtney Mayer

Managing Director

Courtney Mayer is Managing Director, leading the strategic direction and operational performance of the business. She is responsible for maintaining high standards across all areas, ensuring efficient service delivery, and fostering strong, long-term relationships with clients, tenants, and stakeholders.

With over a decade of experience working across London and the South West, Courtney has supported private clients, independent agents, and corporate organisations. Her approach is practical, solutions-driven, and focused on delivering consistent, high-quality results.

In her role, Courtney directly oversees both the Residential Management and Facilities Management teams. She is responsible for operational health and safety, policy development, and implementing streamlined systems and processes that enhance efficiency and consistency across the organisation.

Passionate about people as well as performance, Courtney is committed to mentoring and developing her team and others in the wider business. She promotes a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance, while also encouraging a positive and collaborative environment that supports wellbeing and engagement. Her leadership style inspires her teams to go above and beyond in delivering exceptional service.

Courtney is dedicated to upholding industry best practice and driving strategic, well-structured operations that deliver lasting value for clients, residents, and stakeholders alike.

Jim Kennedy

Finance Director

Jim is an experienced property finance professional with over 30 years in the sector, overseeing the accounting of Tideway’s extensive portfolio. He manages the collection of over £70 million in annual rent and the administration of service charges exceeding £16 million.

Prior to joining Tideway in 2016, Jim spent 18 years at Capita plc (formerly Nelson Bakewell), where he led a large team of client accountants and played a key role in implementing property management accounting systems for major clients.

His expertise spans financial operations, team leadership, and delivering real-time data solutions to support informed asset management decisions.

Andrew Gulliford

Director

Andrew is an experienced senior client accountant who began his journey in property management 25 years ago. With over two decades in property finance, he specialises in Shopping Centre, Retail, Commercial, and Residential portfolios.

Since joining Tideway in 2021 from Avison Young, he has played a key role in managing service charges, budgets, and cost analysis across complex assets, including large refurbishment and new-build projects.

With a strong track record at firms including Nelson Bakewell, Capita Real Estate, and Danish investment company Habro Properties, Andrew brings deep sector knowledge and a detail-driven approach. He is committed to meeting KPIs and ensuring timely, accurate delivery for all client requirements.

Lee Evans

Director

Lee joined Tideway in 2009 as a Junior Accounts Assistant and, through consistent dedication and professional growth, has progressed over the many years of service into one of our senior Client Accountants. He now manages a diverse portfolio of retail, commercial, and residential properties, bringing a high level of accuracy, strong client focus, and extensive expertise in property accounting.

In addition to his client-facing responsibilities, Lee plays a key role in supporting the development of junior team members. He actively contributes to their training and progression as Client Accountants, sharing his knowledge and helping to uphold the department’s high professional standards.

Michael Burbage

Director

Michael is a seasoned commercial property management professional with over 40 years’ experience in the industry. As a Director at Tideway, he draws on extensive expertise gained across a wide variety of client portfolios and asset types.

His career began in 1978 at West End firm Bancroft and Company, followed by senior roles at Hirshfields and Land Investors plc. Before joining Tideway in 2003, Michael was a Director at Smith Melzack Pepper Angliss, where he oversaw complex property instructions across London and the South East.

He holds a BSc in Urban Estate Management and brings a wealth of practical knowledge and leadership to the Tideway Board.

Roz Bingham

Associate Director, Head of Accounts Payable

As Head of Accounts Payable, Roz leads the strategic direction, performance, and ongoing development of the accounts payable function. Since joining Tideway in April 2019, she has played a key role in strengthening financial controls, streamlining processes, and elevating service delivery standards across the organisation.

Roz brings over 25 years of senior leadership experience from her previous role as Director of an international financial publishing company, where she was responsible for the planning and delivery of high-profile finance conferences on a global scale. Her strong commercial acumen and proven leadership capabilities provide valuable insight and expertise, supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement within the business.

Chris Dawes

Associate Director – IT Lead

Chris leads Tideway’s IT strategy, overseeing systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity to ensure secure, efficient, and future-ready operations. Since joining in 2018, he has progressed through finance and client accounting roles, giving him a strong commercial understanding that shapes his approach to technology.

Now focused full-time on IT, Chris delivers major system upgrades and digital projects that enhance system performance and maintain Tideway’s operational efficiencies and resilience. He also brings expertise in Business Rates, supporting clients through payment processes, account management, and mitigation strategies.
